Understanding Christianity

What will students learn?

Understanding Christianity comprises four tracks: Christian Scripture, Christian Thinking, Christian Life, and Christian Worship. Each track contains several topics or classes.

  • Christian Scripture

Students are introduced to the Old and New Testaments, and examine four important biblical books in more detail. How to go from Word to world is taught entirely practically so that students finish the course being able to prepare and give Bible studies and sermons themselves.

  • Christian Thinking

The great themes of Christian theology over 2000 years are the subject of this track and focus upon faith in God, God’s world, God the Trinity and God’s salvation.  In addition, students learn about mission and Christian ethics.

  • Christian Life

The Christian Life track comprises two main elements.  First, the track introduces people to the basic stages and experiences of human life and to the challenges life presents. Students learn how to be active listeners and lead focus groups as a means of helping people through difficult moments of life.  Second, students discover more about Spanish-speaking people, the practice of church planting and evangelism, and gain practical experience of Christian ministry in local churches in Spain.

  • Christian Worship

The Christian Worship track comprises three main elements: the history of Christian worship and spirituality, participating and gaining experience on how to lead various facets of contemporary worship, and the practice of Christian spirituality (students write a spiritual journal and examine their vocation)
